Update 24 October 2025: Section 1.1 — All team watercraft must be of the same type. (For example, a team may use only packraft(s) or only kayak(s), but not a mix such as a hard canoe and a packraft.)
1. Mandatory Equipment
Mandatory equipment must be carried at all times, except for items related to water travel or lighting, which may be temporarily left in the terrain.
1.1 Team Equipment
GPS tracking device (provided by the organiser)
Race maps (provided by the organiser)
Race card (provided by the organiser)
Checkpoint descriptions (provided by the organiser)
Waterproof map case – recommended size A3 or larger
Compass
Mobile phone with waterproof bag or case
In competitive categories, the organiser provides a sealable phone pouch, which is not waterproof.
First-aid kit, packed waterproof, including:
Plasters/bandages
Sterile dressings
Gauze roll or bandage suitable for making a pressure bandage (we recommend a bandage with a built-in pressure applicator)
Sports tape
Emergency blanket for each team member
Two fine-tipped permanent markers
Paddle- or oar-powered watercraft, such as:
Inflatable boat, packraft, kayak, open canoe, rowboat, or similar
Air mattresses or similar are not allowed
Sufficient craft(s) so that all team members can travel on water at the same time
All team watercraft must be of the same type — for instance, a team may have only packraft(s) or only kayak(s).
Repair kit if the craft is inflatable
1.2 Personal Equipment
Each participant must have:
Race bib (provided by the organiser)
Race maps, race card, and photo enlargements of checkpoints (provided by the organiser)
Whistle
Personal flotation device (PFD / life jacket)
Headlamp or similar light source (not required for the 8-hour category)
2. Prohibited Equipment
GPS devices with a display (permitted in recreational categories)
Garmin models with Adventure Racing (AR) mode are allowed, but:
You must know how to use AR mode, activate it before the start, and be ready to demonstrate at the finish that the device was used only in AR mode.
Mobile phones and all other radios (permitted in recreational categories)
Exception: a sealed spare phone carried for emergencies.
All motorised equipment
Any maps other than those provided by the organiser
3. Recommended Equipment
Sufficient food and water
Clothing suitable for both hot weather and cold heavy rain
Waterproof backpack (or at least all gear packed in waterproof bags)
Watch (waterproof, non-GPS)
Camera
Additional first-aid supplies
Blister plasters
Allergy medication
Cortisone cream
Cash or credit card
