The routes runs through evergreen forests, along outdoor trails and gently flowing rivers, across majestic fells and beautiful wilderness lakes.

Kairacross Ylläs is suitable for everyone who is interested in outdoor activities and exercise, regardless of whether the goal is to win or just enjoy the nigthless night and stunning scenery of the national park.

 

To Whom?

Kairacross Ylläs suitable for ordinary hikers and endurance enthusiasts who want to challenge themselves and enjoy the great outdoors.

The prerequisite for participation is the ability to navigate in the wilderness.

The event is timed and results are generated to motivate the more competitive.


COURSES

There are three courses:

Long: about 60 km

Half: about 30 km

Mini: about 5 km

Approximately half the distance of every course runs on land and half in waterways.

Control points are placed in easy or relatively easy places such as on top of the fells or shore of the lake.


Teams

Teams consists of at least two people. There is no upper limit on team size.

Long and Half can be attended by those over 18 years and over 16 years of age, if the parent is in the same team.

Mini can be attended by those over the age of 18 and those over the age of 12, if the parent is in the same team.

  • 129 € before June 28 2022

MINI

  • 25 € before June 28 2022

You can also register for the Mini course at the competition center (35 €).

Registration ends one hour before the start.

DURATION & DATE

All classes start at evening of July 6th.

Mini finishes at on Wednesday night, Half on Thursday morning and Long on Thurdays afternoon. Longer courses thus proceed through a nightless night.


Area

The route runs mostly in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park. There are several open fells with stunning scenery, as well as lots of wooded hills. Between the fells there are bogs, several beautiful rivers and lakes.

Hiking trails as well as a few (forest) roads make it easier to move and navigate in the area.

Organizer has no insurance to cover the participants. We recommend a personal health insurance that includes participation to events in terrain.

FOLLOW THE RACE

Every team will get a GPS tracker so that race can be followed on the internet. Tracking can bee seen on https://sportrec.eu/gps/kairacross-yllas-2022 starting at 6 pm (July 6th).
