Backcountry Lapland: Christoph Hermle, Michael Valeriano

1. Why did you decide to register to this race?

Last year Christoph had to cancel the race due to an injury so this year we are back to fully enjoy the race!

Kairacross is such an unique event that we had to participate!

2. What kind of trip you expect Kairacross Vätsäri to be?

Amazing landscapes and challenging terrain.

Also a quite interesting experience to see how fast we can move in this kind of environment.

3. Tell something about your team. What does the name stand for?

Christoph is originally from Germany but living in Lapland for five years. The name of our team comes from his company making tours in Rovaniemi and Pyhä-Luosto and renting out packrafts.

Michael is from France and like to making hikes in the wild countryside around the Mediterranean sea. This run will be a first of this kind and a challenge for him.

Christoph and Michael are long time friends and have done several long hikes together.

4. What is the longest paddling/packrafting trip you have made? What was it like?

Christoph has hiked a lot in the arctics, in Lapland, Alaska, and Siberia and has some good paddling and rowing experience (850 km on the Ob River in Siberia).

Michael is not an experienced paddler, he only tried a few times before.

5. What’s your goal in Kairacross Vätsäri?

To have a great time and an awesome experience in a really special area. To spend some fun time in between friends.
