The race course runs in the area of Kolari, Muonio and Kittilä municipalities, largely in Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park.

The area is dominated by the magnificent open fells Ylläs, Kesänki, Kukas, Lainio and Aakenus. In addition to these, there are many high hills as well as atmospheric bogs, beautiful lakes and pretty rivers in the lowlands.

Several hiking trails in the area make it easy to get around and navigate.
