The idea
of the race

The goal of the race is to navigate the race course as fast as possible, visiting the control points in numerical order.

In most cases you are free to choose how you move between two control points. In a few places you must move from the control point to the next one on water. These sections are marked on the map with blue dotted lines.

In the race, you move with your own muscles without outside aid. A packraft is used when moving on water.

A team sticks together for the whole competition and carries all the equipment needed with them.

Event info

There will be a short event info at the starting point of the race on Wednesday the 6th of July 2022 at 4:30 pm.

There you will be provided with more information about the race, as well as all the material needed for the race. At the end of the event info you are free to ask questions about the race. You can also send your questions in advance to: info [at] kairacross.fi

THE MAP

The map is based on topographic map material by the National Land Survey of Finland. The same material is used eg. in Kansalaisen Karttapaikka map.

All maps are printed on water resistant material, but a map case is still needed.

The race maps for PITKÄ and PUOLIKAS are handed out to teams when the race begins. The map for MINI with a few Kairacross-tips is handed out to teams at the event info with other materials.

Mobile phone

All participants must have a functional mobile phone (packed waterproof) with them for safety reasons. We also recommend bringing a power bank.

You are free to use your mobile phone during the race. We strongly recommend you to share your best pictures on social media – perhaps even when the race is still ongoing.
