1. Mandatory equipment
1.1 Team equipment
Every team must have the following equipment with them all the time:
GPS tracker (provided by the organizer)
Race maps (provided by the organizer)
Control card (provided by the organizer)
Waterproof map case
size A3 or larger recommended
First aid equipment, packed waterproof:
Plasters
Bandages
Elastic compression bandage
Adhesive tape / sports tape
Emergency blanket (aluminium foil or similar)
Means of making fire, packed waterproof
Knife
length of the blade at least 59 mm
2 permanent markers
Video camera, waterproof (or packed waterproof)
For example, a GoPro or similar, cheapest ones like Rollei 372 cost under 30 euros.
Every team must have the following equipment with them at start, at finish and at certain CPs that are stated in the control descriptions:
Shelter (a tent, a tarp, bivvy bag or similar)
Vessel you are able to row or paddle
Packraft, rubber boat, kayak, canoe, rowing boat or similar
Not an air mattress or similar
If you are unsure if your vessel is accepted, please consult the race organizers
One or more vessels so that the whole team can move on water at the same time
Repair kit for the vessel
Every team must have the following equipment with them at start, finish and places where disinfetion will take place:
Disinfection equipment
Disinfectant (provided by the organizer)
At least two pairs of rubber gloves
At least two sponges
Container of at least 0,5 litres in volume to mix the disinfectant in
1.2 Personal equipment
Every participant must always have the following equipment on them:
Mobile phone in a case and waterproof bag
The phone must be either
in a case where it is impossible for the phone to turn on even when you are sitting on the backpack or moving stuff around in there
ORbattery completely removed
Fully charged phone with the power turned off is placed (in its case) in a bag provided by the organizers and sealed. Then this sealed bag is placed inside your own waterproof bag
Pressure bandages
Race number bib
Compass
Whistle
Sleeping pad
Windproof jacket
Every participant must wear on them when moving on water:
Buoyancy aid (life jacket/personal flotation device)
The buoyancy aid must have enough buoyancy to keep person floating (without any movement by the user)
Inflatable buoyancy aids are allowed only if they are fully inflated the whole time (when on water)
Helmet (made for rafting, climbing or biking)
2. Forbidden equipment
GPS-trackers with a screen
GPS logger with no screen is accepted
Some Garmin models with Adventure Racing mode are allowed. Make sure that you know how to use the AR mode and start the activity in AR mode before the race starts. Prepare to show at the finnish that you have used only AR mode.
Mobile phones and radio equipment
One personal phone with power off and in a sealed bag is required
Any kind of motor intended to move the vessel
Maps other than the ones provided by the organizer
3. Recommended equipment
Clothes with which you can survive in 0 degrees and wade in 5-degree water as well, such as a dry suit and rubber boots or shoes that dry quickly
Waterproof backpack (or at least have all your belongings packed in waterproof baggies)
Sleeping bag
Watch (waterproof, with alarm function but without GPS)
Optional first aid equipment, such as bandages for blisters, allergy medicine or cortisone cream.
Mosquito repellent, mosquito hat
Money or a credit card
